HROC Rwanda began the Scholarship program in 2006 with the purpose of helping vulnerable children throughout Rwanda afford education. This includes children who were orphaned by the war/genocide, HIV/AIDS and those living in extreme poverty. Over 15 children have graduated so far and are now supporting themselves, their families and even going on to study at the university level. Currently, the program supports 15 children, but HROC Rwanda aims to raise this to 25. The cost of educating one of these needy children for an entire year is between $325 and $450.
